There is no need to be anxious about your first visit. We are here to make sure you are comfortable and your expectations are exceeded. We will answer your questions relating to your treatment, progress, insurance coverage, scheduling, and billing.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment in order to fill out any necessary paperwork. You may also save time by downloading the forms from our website and completing them prior to your arrival. You should also bring your completed physician referral form and your health insurance card.
On your first visit, you can expect your physiotherapist to conduct an initial assessment, review your health history and discuss in detail, the information related to your complaint or injury. Our therapists will perform an objective evaluation and request your written consent to assess and treat you. Please allow approx. 45 minutes to 1 hour for your first visit.
During the assessment, our therapists will seek to identify the source of your discomfort or pain, determine the areas of the body that are contributing to such discomfort or pain, confirm a diagnosis that will determine your treatment plan and share with you details of your treatment plan based on his/her discovery. Your treatment plan will include how often you should see the therapist, how many weeks you will need treatment, home programs, patient education, your goals, and what you are expected to do once your treatment has ended.
Once you indicate that you are comfortable with the treatment plan, our therapists will proceed with your first treatment which will be geared towards reducing your symptoms and moving you towards recovery. Your treatment will in all probability include manual therapy, strengthening exercises, electrical modalities such as ultrasound or interferential. Our therapists will talk with you about the techniques most suitable for your full recovery. We will only use treatments you are most comfortable with.
For all other appointments, you may arrive at your scheduled time. We also recommend comfortable clothing such as sweatpants or shorts, a T-shirt or tank-top and sneakers.
