Physiotherapy

Cardiopulmonary and Cardiovascular

Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy is focused on the physical function of the cardiopulmonary to prevent cardiopulmonary disease and help those with cardiopulmonary disease function better. It can also benefit people who are in perfect health by improving heart rate recovery times after exercise and reducing their likelihood of suffering from deadly heart attacks.  Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy is extremely important to people recovering from a heart attack or any type of heart surgery.  Patients with pulmonary fibrosis, heart valve replacement, post coronary bypass surgery, or coronary stent placement can be treated with cardiopulmonary physical therapy.  Cystic fibrosis and lung cancer patients, as well as those with lung diseases, require Cardiovascular Physical Therapy.  Patients with heart and circulatory problems also use this type of physical therapy after surgery to increase range of motion and endurance.

Neurological

Neurological physiotherapy is fundamentally concerned with movement.  Our team of professionals will primarily focus on movement patterns, strength, flexibility, functional ability, balance, and tone, which will lead to the teaching and training the patient to achieve normal function. Our therapists will use a variety of modalities and therapy techniques such as therapeutic exercise and balance activities, gait training with the use of assistive equipment/devices, splinting, bracing, and the use of specialized therapy equipment, neurological re-education of movement and activity patterns and adaptive recreation and sports activities.

Patients who have suffered strokes, brain injuries, and damage to the spinal cord usually require physiotherapy to facilitate the healing process.  Persons with Alzheimer’s, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s, Muscular Dystrophy, Balance Disorders, and Multiple Sclerosis issues use this type of physical therapy to help restore function to their limbs.  This form of physical therapy is also used for the treatment of paralysis and vision problems.

Orthopedic

When an individual loses freedom of movement as a result of an orthopedic injury, illness, or surgery, it can be challenging.  Orthopedic physical therapy focuses on the musculoskeletal system, including joints, tendons, ligaments, and bones.  Our therapists are highly skilled and are trained in the use of manual (hands-on) techniques, exercises, and accessory equipment to accelerate the patient’s restoration to full function.  This includes treatment of orthopedic conditions from head to toe including, arthritis, temporomandibular disorders, neck and back pain, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder, hip and knee pain, plantar fasciitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.  Treatment for sports and motor vehicle accident-related injuries fall into this category as well.  Several methods are used in this type of therapy, which focuses mainly on joint mobilization.  Our physiotherapists are ready to be at your side providing expert care; that will enable you to return safely to your sporting activity. We will work with you to regain strength, mobility, balance, and coordination. You will also be educated about risk factors and injury prevention.

Pediatric

The focus is on children under the age of 18 years.  The main areas covered would include orthopedic injuries, certain childhood diseases.  Our physiotherapists will develop a specialized plan for treatment after conducting interviews with the parents and diagnosing the source of the child’s movement difficulties.  We know that pediatric physical therapy is about inspiring children to gain the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.  And it’s also about supporting families throughout the rehabilitation process. Our therapists will use a combination of techniques following assessment.  Some of these techniques are manual manipulation, designing, fitting, and using assistive technology, orthotics and prosthetics, breathing training, and motor learning.

We provide protective gear for your safety.  Our programs consist of supervised exercises in water.  Aquatic therapy is mostly prescribed for Orthopaedic (including Lumbago (lower back pain), Cerebral Palsy, post-surgery debilitation, muscle weakness, Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sprains, and Strains and Neurological (for example Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury among other conditions).  Our certified Aquatic Therapist is ready to work with you!
